Monarch Butterfly Wing in Glass - Necklace

A ♥ one of a kind ♥ handcrafted piece of Magpie Castle's jewellery.

Displaying a wing of one of New Zealand's monarch butterflies encased in glass.
The butterflies I use in my jewellery are given to me by friends who have swan plants in their garden and find the occasional butterfly that has either reached the end of their cycle or didn't make it into flight after emerging from its chrysalis.
I get to give these beautiful works of nature new life through jewellery so they can be appreciated once again.

The glass is hand cut out of recycled picture frames and soldered together using the classic Tiffany stained glass technique with copper foil, tin and silver.

♥ Pendant size: approx 6.5 x 3.5 cm
♥ Hangs on a 50 cm stainless steel chain with lobster clasp plus an extra 10 cm extender to go to 60cm if you wish.

Care instructions:
- Store in a dry place, keep away from water to avoid moisture seeping in between the glass.
- To clean the glass simply spray a small amount of glass cleaner onto a lint free cloth and clean (do not spray directly onto glass to avoid excess seeping in)
- Store out of direct sunlight when you're not wearing it
- Since this is a natural object some slight change in colour may occur over time
