Dotterel
I love this costal bird's gumption to build their nest in the very exposed place frequented by many beach goers. Courage or foolishness? They do put up such great defence when you find yourself strolling near their nests.
This illustration was one of the 12 images done for a calendar that I did last year involving all sorts of 'locals' from the New Zealand coast and bush.
