Cross over pinafore dress, reversible

A vintage slip on apron style pinafore frock for infants from a 1960s classic pattern. This pinafore is fully reversible. It is initially worn as a dress for the younger infant but transforms to a smock top as she grows taller, paired with bike shorts, leggings or bloomers. The style is loose fitting for summer wear, and has room for layers underneath in cooler weather. No zips or buttons, just slips on and crosses over at the back.

This garment is made from 1970s vintage polycottons with a motif of children playing. There is a brown patchwork motif cotton on the reverse.

Story: Found in a charity shop, this fabric reminded me of my childhood when Holly Hobby was all the fashion.
