"What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have never been discovered." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Often considered a weed, nasturtiums are found growing wild in marginalised spaces, thriving where other plants fail. I argue that they have many virtues: their round leaves act like dishes which catch the delicate drops of morning dew, the flowers and leaves are edible and the plants are beautiful en masse. In addition, the shape and texture of the leaves work well when captured in clay, as shown here in these ceramic dishes.

Each piece is unique as each dish is formed from a different leaf. The dishes are great for fruit, nibbles, tea bags, jewellery, collections of decorative objects or simply on display mounted on the wall or a shelf. They would make an excellent gift for someone special.

The size of the dishes varies according to the size of the leaves they are formed from, but generally they are approximately 130mm wide by 30mm high. They are handmade in New Zealand from earthenware clay and fired and finished in a clear gloss glaze with a green underglaze accentuating the leaf veins.

The dishes are food-safe. It is recommended that they be hand washed.

Please allow approximately 10 working days for items to be glazed, fired, packed and delivered.
