Kowhai earrings: large brass flowers with yellow-beaded stamens on short hooks

These flower earrings are inspired by the flowers of New Zealand's native kowhai tree. They have beautiful, detailed petals of raw brass, in a mellow, golden hue.
These kowhai flowers have an antiqued-brass coloured bead-cap for a calyx, a yellow-green miracle bead for a receptacle, and antiqued-brass coloured metal filaments with tiny glass beads for anthers. All hang from a peduncle – stem – of wrapped wire.

A miracle bead (or 'wonder bead') has an acrylic core with a silver mirror-plate finish, which is coated with several layers of coloured lacquer. In effect, the bead is a spherical mirror, reflecting its outer surface, creating the illusion of a bead within a bead.
This effect can only be seen in certain light. The rest of the time the bead simply appears to glow with colour.

The 'Kowhai' earrings measure approximately 62mm from top to bottom, and 17mm across at their widest point, which is at the tips of the brass petals. From the bottom of the ear hooks to the tips of the stamens, the flowers measure about 44mm.
The ear hooks are without nickel.
