Escape from the Mainland: White Reef Islands - Zine

Escape from the Mainland outlines through writing and illustrations my experiences on the White Reef Islands, a small island reef 38 km off the Bay of Plenty/Eastland peninsula, where I spent four weeks with the local community gaining inspiration for ongoing art projects. I have made illustrations of the reef along with a 2800 word description of my time there, there is also an A3 fold/pull out map (pictured above).

The illustrations are handmade, no computer. It was quite a complicated process involving paper, brush pens, duo tone, acetate, house paint, many arguments with the photocopier and then in the end hand colouring for the red.
