ulala /u’lala/ (old Japanese word) serene, peaceful


I am originally from Kyoto, Japan, our earlier capital city, surrounded by the beautiful traditions and textiles.

During my study of fashion design at Otago Polytechnic, I fell in love with materials, scenery, and people in Southern New Zealand.

My grandmother, who was a Japanese kimono maker, always told me 'the shame of wasting', so I try minimising fabric wastage when designing.
