I am a Maori carver based in the Bay of Plenty, the designs that I create are a mixture of contemporary and traditional forms. I blend a world view that has developed over the last 22 years of travel with my cultural background to create new expressions of an older art form.
One of the constants of my life has been the connection to the world outside of the studio doors. Whether it is hiking, surfing or even sitting on rock listening to the world swirl around me, I draw from this to expand on or create new carvings or ideas. It means that ideas and images are constantly swirling around me adding and shifting the forms that I create.
