I’m a self-taught painter. Almost 20 years as a tattoo artist are my background for drawing and painting. Among other subjects I like land- and cityscapes, coastal themes and animal portraiture. Since the late 1990's, my preferred subject is the dream-like swirling iridescence of paua shells. The sad fact is we cannot see the beautiful colours of the paua until the animal has died. It would be a tragedy if our precious paua become endangered because of greedy overfishing for profit. Paintings preserve the essence of paua shells without having to kill the animal.

I work in oil, pastel and watercolour.
