Kia Ora and Bonjour!

I am Marie and I am the stay-at-home-crazy-crafting-mum-of-one-adorable-littlie behind ilovefifi. I live in the stunning Nelson area in rural (almost!) paradise. Having followed my soldier husband around Europe, a day doesn't pass without me thanking my lucky stars that we now have the opportunity and freedom to make our home in New Zealand. We LOVE it here!

ilovefifi is named after my beautiful Belgian/French Grandmother, Hortense. She fell in love with my seafaring Scottish/Irish Grandfather, Charles, and followed him from her small Belgian village to Britain. Whilst Grandpa was at sea, Grandma would help to makes ends meet by waitressing at rather posh 'upper class' functions. Her sparkly blue eyes (just like mine and my littlie's!) and her lovely Belgian accent meant she was noticed by Lord Louis, 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma. He started to call her 'Fifi' which suited her far more than the rather staid 'Hortense'. Grandma was very fond of this true English gentleman and was proud that Lord Mountbatten would ask for her to attend the many events that her employer catered for. Soon everyone called Grandma Fifi!

Having moved across the globe to live our dream and make our home in this special place, I often think of my Grandma and the many trials and tribulations she encountered on attempting to make a new life in a foreign country where she didn't even speak the language. It makes my New Zealand journey seem far easier and helps to pave my way through the tough times that we all experience.

ilovefifi is my little shop of dreams and I am so grateful to Felt for enabling me to undertake this adventure. Every customer I have met on this wonderful site has been an absolute pleasure to work with and I look forward to meeting many more!
