APRONS THAT ARE TRULY "kitchen couture."

THE STORY SO FAR ....
I wanted to make my nine daughters something hand-made for Christmas. Because most of them are great cooks I decided on aprons - which they loved! Then my sister and mother both wanted one .... and it grew from there. And so now I have my wee 'business' called Angela's Aprons.

I make aprons of many styles and sizes (from doll & teddy size through boys and girls to women and fully grown men). Here are some of my 'signature' features:

UNIQUE
Each apron I make is ‘one-of-a-kind’. I might use the same base fabric for a handful of aprons in production, but each will become unique as I select different linings and contrasts, trims, and embellishments. The only exception to this rule is with a few Mother-Daughter-Little Girl matching sets I have made, albeit they are obviously different sizes!

BOLD FUSIONS of STYLES, COLOURS, PATTERNS, AND EMBELLISHMENTS
I love hearing people say “wow!” or “fabulous!” or “beautiful!”. I like knowing that my aprons are ‘different’ …. that people enjoy wearing them and that they make them feel good.

Somehow I have discovered a God-given talent for choosing and blending fabrics, styles, colours (and embellishing with fabric flowers, laces, ribbons, buttons, etc) and fusing all these together in a way that makes my aprons true ‘kitchen couture’.

FULLY LINED and REVERSIBLE
My aprons are all lined. Almost all my aprons are able to be worn either way around – the linings I choose are nice enough in their own right to be admired and shown. The pockets on all my aprons are fully lined also, to ensure they are strong, practical, and will last the distance.

Some people have told me they will do food preparation with the lining side out, and then will turn the apron around to serve guests with the ‘good’ or front side showing. On occasions I make aprons that are genuinely two-sided – with pockets and adornments on each side; two aprons in one!

BEAUTIFULLY MADE
I take pride in my work, and do all my own designing, cutting and sewing. It has got to be right!
My sewing machines are of high quality and well maintained to ensure accuracy and consistency of stitching. I over-lock all internal seams for strength and durability – my aprons will not lose their shape through use and washing.

The hardest but most enjoyable part of making my aprons is the selection of colours and fabric designs to suit the style I am making, and for the female aprons its also the choice of embellishments. I love to adorn my aprons with ribbons or flowers or lace or a mix of all these, picking up colours from the fabrics I have chosen.

GENEROUS POCKETS
Aprons need to be practical! One thing you can guarantee with my aprons is that they will have plenty of pocket space – usually two well-placed pockets. Some styles will instead feature one large pouch-style pocket. I am experimenting with some styles that have no pockets however ….

GENEROUS WAIST TIES
I like to make the waist ties quite long so that there is choice about how and where to tie – behind, at the hip or in front. For the larger women, the selection of a style with a fuller skirt and these generous ties means I have beautiful aprons that you can feel good in.
