Harakeke flowers: unique fibre art
Bright red flax (Harakeke—Phormium tenax) flowers and leaves on an intense blue background. Hand-stitched mainly in tent stitch, with some long and daisy stitches.
This is the third "Harakeke" fibre artwork in my "Whenua" range. It was created for the Kapiti Arts and Crafts annual awards challenge with the theme "NZ Flora and Fauna".

Method: Hand stitching on tapestry canvas
Fibres: Tapestry cotton, Wool, Merino+Acrillico blend
Canvas: medium tapestry canvas
Frame: plain white, with wide white mat board
Size: Frame 18 x 23 cm cm Visible artwork 13 x 18cm
