Pohutukawa Linocut
This Is a linocut of a Pohutukawa flower. The Pohutukawa has an important place in Maori mythology and is also know as the New Zealand Christmas Tree. I drew this onto the lino then carved my design before inking and printing it using my Intaglio Fine Art Printing Press. As each print is inked by hand then rolled through the press each one is slightly different. Here I have used whero/red and kakariki/green waterbased ink on Italian made Fabriano printmaking paper. The size of the linocut is 17cm high by 14cm wide and the size of the paper is 25cm high x 20cm wide making it easy to source a ready made frame. Works on paper are backed with card and wrapped ready to post.
