KAURI – NATIVE TREE OF AOTEAROA
Height: up to 50m tall
Age: 2000–4000 years old
Uses: Māori constructed some of the biggest waka from single Kauri trunks, hollowed out with fire and stone tools. Burning gum was used for heating and lighting. Gum was also chewed, and a powder from the soot was used in traditional tattooing (ta moko).
Designed and printed in Wellington, New Zealand.
