One of the precious threads that has run through our family over the years, is the ritual of sharing tea and gingernuts. Holidays at the beach always had this ingredient. Grandchildren snuggled in bed with Grandma, dunking their biscuits in her tea. Talking over the day after school and games of scrabble weren't complete without them. This pleasure linked the generations and forged a closeness that remains today.
A new generation arrived in our family this year with the birth of twins providing the inspiration for 'tea and gingernuts'. I am a grandma who lives in a bus, therefore my craft offering to the babies needed to be compact. My teaching background of Reading Recovery provided an educational emphasis.
It is my hope that some of my handmade treasures will find their way into your family's special times.
