Close your eyes, fall in love. Stay there ~Rumi~

I started out making jewellery from broken things!

I heard about a dear friend who was loosing their beautiful home in the wake of the deadly 2011 Christchurch Earthquakes. I snuck onto the site late on the afternoon that the house was bulldozed flat. I got some old broken floorboards, took them home and turned them into a beautiful bead necklace.

When I gave my friend the necklace, I told her that all the memories and treasures of that home would never be lost. They were captured in the spirit of the wood, in the beads and she had them forever.

I realised, that day, the power of story and how story connects us together. My Māori ancestors and my Celtic ancestors were story tellers. I make jewellery that tells a story too.

A lot of people ask me about the birds? Why am I so entranced by birds, why are they so important to me? Why is my logo a bird?

In Māori mythology birds are powerful creatures. They often are the bridge and the messenger between the human world and that of the Gods and Goddesses. Birds guide us in ways our ancestors would if they could – if we will just be still long enough to listen. I like to listen to the birds!

Their messages have brought me to a special place; a place where I make jewellery to reflect the stories our souls whisper when we are at peace with ourselves and our place in the world. These stories show us our connection to the earth and the sky, to the wind and the water. They sing us a song of our beauty – a real, raw and distinct beauty; a beauty that is embellished with flaws, scars, pain and growth. This is a powerful beauty, personal and deeply individual. Just as we marvel at the beauty of a single snowflake, or feather, or pebble upon the beach, we are also invited to see the miracle in ourselves.

This jewellery is lovingly hand-crafted; made slowly and intentionally; love and purpose artfully infused within. Every piece celebrates the marks of creation and reflect the unique individual contribution that it’s wearer also makes to the world. These pieces have an organic presence, they are bespoke, timeless and one-of-a-kind.

Just like each and every one of us.
