SCHMICKO - PRONOUNCED shhh-mik-ohh - MEANING ... STANDOUT CHIC ... SMART ....COOL ...CHARMING

Having moved to a small rural area in Taranaki I chose to exit the treadmill of the traditional working world.
I now keep myself busy with 1/4 acre gardens, grandchildren and lots of hours in my sewing room.

I decided to try making some 'up to date' looking plastic bag holders five years ago and have been sewing them frantically since - I've had bags sent to Scotland, England, South Africa, Hong Kong, and all over Australia - not to mention right throughout New Zealand.

My sun bonnets for little girls are my favourite to sew. The pattern is from the 1950's and has been in my family for three generations - it is the most practical and pretty sun hat ever.

Bibs sort of just happened when my last grandchild was born ..... I used up some left over pieces of fabric initially and backed with toweling. Suddenly a very practical bib evolved, the toweling on the back is great because after feeding just rinse the bib - squeeze out and you have a face wipe right there - saves the washing!

Now and again (when time permits) I love to make up little dresses, sun suits and nighties for littlies. It's all about what takes my fancy really ..... and the time to do

Thanks for dropping in - I hope there is something here for you :)
