Welcome to my shop!
I love recycling – envelopes, plastic bags, food (out to the chickens!) - and now I’m making these cute little blanket and Swandri quilts with ‘rescued’ materials. I’ve sewn and quilted for a long time (even winning a prize for my denim quilt ‘My Genetic Make-up’ featured above), so it’s a real pleasure to create these treasures and think that they will keep someone nice and cosy and perhaps spark a treasured childhood memory connected to the woollen fabric I chose.
Of course all the fabric is sourced from my local Op shops (and washed!) – pure wool blankets and Swandris for the tops and cotton curtains or sheets for the backings. The batting (fluffy stuff in the middle ;-)) is a New Zealand wool product. I hand-stitch the edges and tie them together, which I think gives them a funky, home-crafted look. Original blanket labels or a quilted motif make each quilt an original.
They are fine to machine wash on a wool or very gentle setting, but like anything precious, extra care shown by a quick hand wash will keep them looking good for longer. If you’re not happy with your heritage quilt, then I am happy to offer a refund.
