Using my Etching Press I create art works on fine art paper - linocuts, dry-points and monotypes.

I am an artist, working part time, raising a family and living in Christchurch. I have always loved creating art and experimenting with different mediums, from early days at Geraldine High School doing Bursary Sculpture and photography, then doing many night classes during my 20's before deciding to study art full time. I completed my Diploma in Visual Art and Design at Aoraki Polytechnic in Timaru and this is where my love of printmaking began while being tutored by the amazingly talented Jason Greig. I then went on to NMIT to gain a Degree.

Early in 2016 I purchased a Manuka Printing Press that weighs about a ton and took over half of our garage to set up my print studio. In 2018 I begun selling at markets here in Christchurch and found my Linocuts were popular as I can do small print runs and play around with colors. The Arts Centre Easter Makete inspired my Autumn Bunny linocut and the Matariki Makete lead me to research the Maori New Year and create the 9 stars of Matariki linocut over my mountain - Aoraki/Mt Cook. I have been rediscovering Monotypes, drawing into the plate images that suit the inky medium or experimenting with various materials for different effects. I also love to paint flora and fauna with watercolors. I hope you enjoy viewing my artworks, any feedback is appreciated.
Update - 2024 - I have with mixed emotions sold my beautiful Manuka Printing Press. I am planning to purchase a small desktop etching press so I can continue to make linocuts, dry-points and monotypes. I would like to experiment with printing onto fabric and embossing. I am happy to have said farewell to chilly winter printing sessions in my garage and look forward to a move indoors to a warm studio within my home.
