I live in a small town Carterton in the electorate of Wairarapa, which is about 96km from Wellington where I work fulltime. I prefer to being in Carterton but at the moment only there on weekends and holidays. Most of my textile work is done there which I would like to be doing ore of. I completed in 2003 6 years of City & Guilds Creative Studies in Embroidery Parts I and II. Have assisted in commissions, one being the curtains for the theatre that held the premier of the Lord of the Rings. I belong to a group of textile artists that meet once a month and we had our first exhibition in July 2010. We call ourselves the Fishpie group, this name came about as when we first got together we had fishpie for dinner and this has stayed with us. I also belong to a small group, 3, which we do journalling and lots of other mixed media works. I make paper jewellery which is sold on www.felt.co.nz under the name njm., and other items of embroidery/textile art are featured.
