Stewart or Stew as he quite often introduces himself as, is a "coaster" born and bred.
He is the creator, dreamer, and tireless backbone behind the business.
His love for the West Coast and its ever changing scenery shines through in his images.
Originally trained as a surveyor, Stewart's appreciation for the outdoors grew. Surveying on the Coast and a stint overseas Stewart then returned to Greymouth with his wife Edie to raise a family. Even back then he was always seen with a camera in one hand and a theodolite in the other.

Stewart made the transition from surveyor to professional photographer, firstly with a part time studio & then completely in 2000 when he opened his first gallery in the "Becks" building in town - as the locals know it. In 2005 he released a new range of Landscapes and called the collection "My Own Back Yard". In 2008 from the brick walls to a contemporary gallery where the Stewart Nimmo Photography brand took on a new location and image.

Stewart's strong passion for his home and his craft remains strong, and his 'Sure, why not?' attitude is widely known. He is a Master of Photography with the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography, and has a string of awards which attest to his skill with a camera.

Being heavily involved in the local community Stewart is a member of the Greymouth Heritage Trust, Cobden Anglican Church, Greymouth Camera Club, and the West Coast Vintage Car Club. It may surprise you that he is also the patron of the famous Kokatahi Band (Something he has enjoyed photographing for many years).
