I'm passionate about using objects and furniture that are lightweight and portable. I'm a creative person and keen on trying new design software and fabrication machines. A few years back I was in need of a laptop stand, and a colleague of mine had made his own, so I decided to experiment with a design too on the local laser cutter. I'm now trialing cutting them with a CNC machine, as there is less char to clean off from a laser cutter, and it's working quite well. I have a number of other standing desks and couch stands on the design board, soon to be released.
My current training is in architecture and previously in native plant conservation. At times I'm still a coordinator for Te Ara Kakariki Greenway Canterbury Trust, and I volunteer to plant trees elsewhere locally.
