Bespoke Yarn for Jamie

Listing image #152365
Listing image #152366
This is another batch of soft New Zealand-made yarn, which I dyed with plants from my garden and other natural dyestuffs.

The yarn is a certified organic DK. It has 100m per 50g and should be hand washed in cool water. The 8-ply yarn is suitable for felting.

Several options available - packs of two or three skeins which together make up 100g ($30), and single 50g skeins ($15).

bottom 50g skein - Dahlia/Tea

left pack (100g) - Cochenille + Chamomile + Onion/Cochenille (mini-skein of Onion/Cochenille not visible)

right pack (100g) - Henna + Dahlia/Tea

The "small" print:

I strive to make the colours as fast as possible. However, plant dyes, even those made with the help of low-toxicity mordants, such as alum (aluminum potassium sulfate), will fade over time. Because it is a natural process I actually rather like that. Faded synthetic colours just look tired and old, whereas plant colours seem to age gracefully and look natural to their palest version. To preserve the colour of your wool, please hand wash in cool warm water with mild detergent. Dry away from direct sunlight.

My hand-dyed yarns are non-repeatable runs, which means once they’re gone, they’re gone for good. Please hand wash your yarn with care. Wool labeled “superwash” you can cold machine wash. I take great care to achieve beautiful results that are lightfast and colourfast, but sometimes there is a tiny amount of colour running out of the wool at first, so wash your item separately and keep it away from other items at all times while wet. After a few washes the water should run clear.

NOTE:
I take commissions.

I prefer payment by bank transfer. Credit card option is offered mainly for overseas customers.

Please contact me if you live outside of New Zealand.

I will combine postage when possible.

When choosing colours please keep in mind that not all monitors show colours the same.

If you’re not satisfied with your wool you can return it to me in original condition, i. e. with label attached and at your own cost in exchange for different wool or a refund.

I’m a great believer in avoiding waste, and in recycling. That’s why I use recycled packaging materials wherever possible.

If you’re happy with your wool, please let me know and don’t forget to place feedback.
