This impressive, two-strand statement necklace features two imitation coins – one large, one small – in a bright gold colour, stamped to resemble 'pieces of eight'.

On each strand of the necklace, the coin is flanked by natural chrysoprase chips, in gradated sizes with the largest chips nearest the coin. The black and green chrysoprase is punctuated by tiny, brass, disc-shaped beads from Kenya, and square, flattened, antiqued-brass coloured beads with patterning of concentric rings.
The remainder of each strand consists of peridot chips in translucent leaf-green. The necklace is finished with more of the small brass Kenyan beads, leading to an antiqued-gold coloured toggle clasp with bold, tribal-style patterning.

'Jungle Gold' is a one-off design, never to be repeated.

Pieces of eight – also called the 'Spanish dollar' or 'real de a ocho' or the 'eight-real coin' – are a type of Spanish coin first minted in 1497, and now often associated with pirates. They were worth eight 'reales' ('royals'), hence their name.
Chrysoprase – like many other semiprecious gemstones – is a variety of chalcedony. It varies in colour from lime green to apple green to rich, deep greens. It was used by the ancient Greeks, Romans and Egyptians for various ornamental uses, including jewellery. The chrysoprase in this necklace shows a variety of fresh greens mingled with black, like sunlight and shadow on jungle leaves.
Peridot is the only gemstone found in meteorites. It is also one of the few gemstones to occur in only one colour: green. The exact shade ranges from yellow-green to brownish green, the most sought-after being a deep olive green.

'Jungle Gold' is strung on nylon coated stringing wire with a break weight of 5.4 kilograms (12 pounds). It is triple crimped, for extra strength, and uses gold-plated wire-protectors at the clasp for durability. One of the strands is connected to the clasp by two small, oval, gold-plated rings, rather than being attached directly to the clasp. You can see this in the photographs. This is due to a mistake during the creation of the necklace, but does not affect the strength or beauty of the piece in any way – in fact, once the necklace is clasped this little flaw is unnoticeable. Nevertheless, the price of this necklace is a little lower than it would be without the mistake.

The shorter strand of the necklace is 43.5cm long, while the longer strand is 50cm, including both parts of the toggle clasp. The coin pendants are irregular in shape: the large coin measures approximately 38mm in diameter, and the smaller coin 28mm.
