Blue House for Air Plant

This freestanding sculptural piece is a one-off, functional artwork. It is made using traditional Tiffany techniques with a contemporary twist. The glass is a mixture of vintage window glass and new and will have natural imperfections. The suspended copper ring is designed to gently hold an Air Plant ( Tillandsia included). The refractions and shadows bring another dimension to this work.

It can hang or be placed on a windowsill or any horizontal surface where it will receive some natural light.

The Tillandsia absorbs water and nutrients through its leaves and will just need a spray or dunking in water weekly. I add them to some of my works for their form and colour as well as to help tell a recurring story within my works relating to how the built world impacts the environment. Please note that the solder contains lead and, while the risk is minimal, it is wise to wash your hands after handling and keep the piece away from very young children.

Shipping costs listed are estimates. I custom-make packaging for my pieces and then discuss the best option with the purchaser. As with my materials, where possible, packaging materials are natural, recycled or re-used.
