Matau: Red Deer Coronet
The fish hook is one of the most prevalent symbols used in Maori carving. It's a talisman for prosperity and strength. it is a good design for anyone with an affinity for water and is often given as a mark of friendship and respect. I carved this design from a red deer coronet and it has beautiful speckling and colour. This design measures 6.5cm long and 4cm wide.
