Hand woven scarf - forest
This scarf is woven by hand on a timber floor loom. Each strand of yarn is individually threaded into the loom, and each weft thread thrown left to right to build the fabric.
The black warp fibre is NZ merino wool, and the coloured weft is a wool / cashmilon blend. Cashmilon is a synthetic cashmere.
This fabric is very sheer and light, best described as buttery and soft. It has been brushed to give an incredibly soft feel against the skin.
The idea behind this series of scarves was to offer those who struggle to wear wool particularly against the skin, an option that was comfortable and still contained a high percentage of NZ wool.
