Borage, sometimes also known as starflower, is an annual flowering herb that is native to the Mediterranean.
Growing to a height of about 60-80cm, this spreading bushy herb produces huge numbers of blue to pink flowers that are beloved of bees and beneficial insects.
Borage flowers are often used fresh in salads, drinks and desserts as a garnish, having a fresh, cucumber-like taste.
Sow borage direct from spring to autumn in a sunny spot. Water sparingly but regularly. Self-seeds readily.
