Classic Chess Board - Walnut and Ash chess board with solid Rimu border

I have hand crafted this heritage quality classic wooden chess board using sustainably grown timbers and rare reclaimed New Zealand native wood.

This piece is unique due to natural variations in the colour and grain of wood. This variation is part of the beauty gained by using natural materials. Because of this, the item you receive will vary slightly from the one that's pictured here, but will be equally beautiful.

The board features dark squares of solid Walnut and light squares of solid Ash, surrounded by a Rimu border for a classic, clean look. The playing surface is backed with a manufactured board to ensure playing surface stability. Wool felt on the bottom of the board protects surfaces and prevents slipping.

The Board measures 440mm x 440mm x 30mm
The Playing Surface comprises 45mm x 45mm squares of Walnut and Ash separated by 4mm borders of Rimu.

Most of the woods are recycled and repurposed. Where signs of previous use enhance the piece, these may be retained. All products are finished to perfection with eco-friendly finishes that enhance the natural colour of the timbers used.
