Turquoise Three Piece Set WWGSR2
An ancient Eastern inspired bronze, turquoise blue and amber yellow coloured jewellery set from my Silk Road Collection.
A versatile multi-piece design that can be changed in shape and length to suit what you’re wearing. The necklace and bracelet can be joined together to make a 71cm ‘Opera’ length necklace. The Turquenite earrings are a gorgeous clover shape.
The main gemstones featured here are Tiger Eye, Amazonite chalcedony, Turquoise, Turquenite and Citrine. Turquenite is a wonderful blue form of Howlite, a marvellous stone discovered by William How 1868 in Canada. Accompanying the gemstones are beads of vintage lampwork, Austrian and Czech crystal, filigree bronze spacers and bead caps of an Antique Bronze colour, with bronze plated clasps. The beads range in size from 3mm-20mm.
A ‘Matinee’ length, 50cm (19 and a half inch) hand-knotted strand. The beads are Citrine, Tiger Eye, Amazonite chalcedony, vintage Lampwork, Turquenite Howlite, Austrian and Czech crystal, and filigree bronze spacers and bead caps on an Antique Bronze coloured, plated clasp.
-A 45 bead Necklace, 50cm long in circumference with a 4.2cm long detachable clover pendant. This measurement includes the clasp.
-A 23 bead Bracelet, 21cm long in circumference with a 4.2cm long detachable clover pendant. This measurement includes the clasp.
-A 6cm Bracelet extender/reducer ‘safety chain’ with two lobster clasps
-A pair of 5cm long Earrings: 6 beads. 2 Clover Turquenites, 2 Howlites, 2 Bicone crystals.
Before you buy the set, it’s a great idea to check that the necklace length and bracelet size both work for you. Use a tape measure or string marked to length. Check that the bracelet won’t slip off your hand, especially if you have small or narrow hands. (The wee extender/safety/reducer chain helps adjust the bracelets size ).
You are more than welcome to email me with your exact wrist size so I can advise you. In general, I can’t change the length without completely remaking a bracelet or necklace, but this option is not completely out of the question.
Coming from a long line of manufacturing jewellers who originally landed in Timaru in the mid 1870s, my own family history made me curious about pearl knotting and gems. Initially, I hand-knotted necklaces for friends, then that idea grew, and here we are!
Windwhistle Gems are made in limited editions. Often I can find beads only once, then I never manage to find them again. This particular set is a one-off because the amber and black hand blown beads were a special vintage find. Anything made in the future in this colour combination will be similar, but not exactly the same as your set.
Each piece takes many a happy hour to plan and source. Then, sitting by our fireside at night I craft pieces one by one. Each strand is the opposite of mass produced. Knotted necklaces and bracelets do take longer to make, but they hang better and last well. If I wouldn’t wear it myself, I don’t make it.
Purchases are dispatched freight-free, NZ wide, carefully bubble wrapped.
Items arrive inside tissue, in a velvet pouch or a gift box, ready for presentation.
10% of profits go to The Fantail Trust, a local initiative in native regeneration, here in Windwhistle, in the foothills of the Southern Alps, in New Zealand.
