Cabbage Tree
Cabbage trees or Cordyline australis are endemic to New Zealand and found everywhere in the southern parts of NZ. Their leaves at notoriously annoying to anyone who mows lawns but the trees are worth the hassle.

How do I make my images?
All of my pictures are inspired by the world I see. I take photos wherever I go and when home I crop the images to make a pleasing composition. I use New Zealand merino wool dyed in numerous colours and blend the loose fibres to produce the colours I want. These fibres are carefully laid out and then entangled with each other with the use of warm soapy water and friction to bind them to become sturdy felt. The process of wet felting causes the original layout to shrink and condense as the felt forms. I leave the felt to dry, then sharpen the image with the use of needle felting techniques, free motion machine embroidery and occasionally hand embroidery. Each step improves the depth and character of the picture. The final picture is attached to mount board and framed without glass in a simple box frame to best show the beautiful qualities of the felt.
The purchased picture will be carefully bubble wrapped and sent through NZPost. A tracking number will be emailed to the customer. Colours shown may vary form the original art work.
