New Zealand's smallest bird, one of the two remaining New Zealand Wrens. The NZ wrens split off from the other song-birds so early that they lack a true song - they just squeak. The Rifleman is named for it's olive green top coat similar to the colour of the jackets worn by early colonial soldiers. And the Maori name refers to colour as well - being similar to Greenstone (Pounamu). These little birds are so small and move around so much that they are very difficult to catch on camera!

I have taken 6 of my original native bird collages, created digital versions and printed them onto plywood.

These prints of native NZ birds are printed with solvent free UV curable non-fading Osé ink onto 9mm 5-ply made from sustainable A-grade pine grown in NZ. This is cut to size (230x230mm) and hand sanded to a smooth finish. They are produced in small print runs and are all unique in wood grain. Artist's signature and print edition number is hand written on the back.

Enjoy as a one-off piece or combine with other prints to make a colorful, fun and natural statement on any wall.
