A popular Māori legend is that the seven Matariki stars are a mother (Matariki) and her six daughters – Tupu-ā-nuku, Tupu-ā-rangi, Waipunarangi, Waitī, Waitā, and Ururangi. Two other stars that have been identified are Pohutukawa and Hiwa i te rangi.
It uses 19 colours of embroidery floss, and it is a project for an experienced srafter.
The file contains 11 pages, the first is a colour chart and then detailed pages with symbols for cross-stitching by colour. The full list of DMC embroidery floss colours is given on the last page.
