P.Y.O. Sweet Chestnuts experience for 2 Adults

Limited season , chestnuts available until mid / late May.
the PYO Chestnut experience is available weekdays and weekends. Min 24 hour notice when booking ensures we can prepare for your visit and schedule guests at different times for safe social distancing.

Escape the city and spend time gathering nuts in our peaceful Chestnut Orchard in Lawford Rd, West Melton, Canterbury.
Gather fresh edible sweet chestnuts from under our spray free trees. Each person can fill a 2 litre container with nuts to take home ( nuts will be transferred into a paper bag for you to take home)

Listen to birdsong, breathe fresh country air and fill your container with large sweet chestnuts to take home and whip up culinary delights, or roast over your fire pit.
Elizabeth [ host] will greet you, give you a safety briefing, instruct you in what to look for in the perfect nut and get you started gathering the best nuts you can find. gathering containers will be provided.

Good Footwear is essential for safety, we recommend you wear gumboots or strong shoes no open toed shoes or jandals. chestnut husks are very spiky!

Bring along some foodtongs to save on bending, we have some that can be borrowed but sometimes we don’t have enough.

Please note Chestnut tree farm is a farm and as such there are safety hazards, such as animal water troughs, a large duck pond, and electric boundary fence, so children need to be closely supervised at all times. Please respect our farm animals and bird life and don’t feed them without checking with your hosts first. If Children would like to feed the sheep, Elizabeth is happy to introduce Buttercup, Marigold and baby sue to you for pats and photos.

You are welcome to bring a picnic rug if you would like to byo snacks/ drinks. There are some little tables and chairs available for picnics.
