Ancient Swamp Kauri Shaving Set

This shaving set is made from beautiful Ancient Swamp Kauri.

Kauri trees are one of the longest-living tree species in the world as well as the largest. They can be found in the North Island here in New Zealand.

Mature trees have an average diameter of two metres. These giants can live for more than 1000 years and the biggest can reach heights of over 50 metres, with girths of more than 13 metres. The species is speculated to have been around for 20 million years.

Kauri is quite a heavy, solid wood and it feels nice holding it in the hand.
The woodgrain is amazing and no two pieces will ever be the same as you can see by the 2 slightly different colours. Believe it or not these 2 pieces were cut from the same piece of wood. It just shows the range of colours Swamp Kauri can come in.

The razor has durable anodized black metal fittings and takes standard Gillette Mach3 refills. (not included)

The brush has genuine badger hair bristles which feel nice and soft on the skin and lather up really well.
It has quite compact handle and stands at around 10cm including the bristles.

I've finished these with a few light coats of oil to keep the look as natural as possible. The shine can be brought back to life with bit of furniture oil, or even something like Neopol polish. Because it'll be exposed to water and soap as its used, a good clean and polish every now and then will keep it in tip top shape. :)

These are quality pieces and would make an amazing addition to any bathroom setting.
