Sgraffito (in Italian “to scratch”) - a decorative pottery technique produced by applying layers of underglaze or slip and scratching through the top layer to reveal a lower layer of contrasting clay colour beneath. This piece has been drawn & etched by hand, it is NOT a transfer.

This bespoke black stoneware cup is handbuilt, decorated with underglaze and meticulously etched with a renown NZ icon, the Tuatara . The cup has then been finished in a clear glossy glaze inside and out.

Dishwasher safe.

Photographs have been taken from all angles to showcase the item as realistically as possible, however being handbuilt and organic in form means that there will be variations in form, size and colour which we believe adds to the unique character of each piece.
