In Māori mythology the primal couple Rangi and Papa (or Ranginui and Papatūānuku) appear in the creation myth explaining the origin of the world (though there are many different versions).
The artist "Shannon" tried to capture the couple in a sense of eternal ''oneness, an eternal embrace", "this is Rangi & Papa as they were before the creation of Heaven and Earth" the creation story of Ranginui and Papatūānuku is a somber story of love and betrayal, they were forced to live apart, never able to touch or hold each other again.
