Slim young silver birch saplings are set in a peaceful meadow of green spring shades, with the hint of a meandering stream. Wool knots represent the new leaves against a pale sky, and over-stitching forms the distinctive tree bark.

This is the third in my "Silver Birch Forest" series of fibre artworks (see a brief description of these trees below.) I've created seven or eight more, including a companion work "Young birch forest (2)", also for sale in this shop. You might also like "Vivid Forest", another companion pair, "Summer into Autumn" in hot autumn colours; or the larger "Leafy Forest".

Handcrafted with care by Bronwyn Angela White in a smoke-free and pet-free home.

Although some works are similar, none are identical. When you buy from "Eclectic Yarn" (or any of my shops on Felt), you know your purchase is "one of a kind", an original design, and will never be duplicated.

Silver birches' bark is white with scattered black fissures. The young twigs are typically covered in white ‘warts’, and feel rough to the touch. The bark becomes much more rugged with diamond-shaped crevices as it gets older.

This "Silver Birch Forest" artwork is #3 in a series of 8 (so far). You can read about the evolution of this series on my showcase website
