Hokitika dreaming IXX - mixed media

This is a 6.5x4.5” mixed media work on paper using watercolour, acrylics, collage, water soluble crayon and pen, in a 10x8” white matt.
It is part of a series of prints I created in 2019; the works were exhibited at the Lysaght Watt Gallery in Hawera. As often happens when I create a series, later works are less obviously connected to the original inspiration; the works are increasingly abstracted but still informed by the land. My works are a reaction to, not a representation of, the world around me.
Works in the Hokitika series are inspired by multiple trips to the Hokitika Gorge on the West Coast of New Zealand. From my first view of those clear glacial waters I have been fascinated by the colours, shapes/shadows and movement of the water.
Each work is a unique, hand-made work of art.
