Autumn Memories: locket cluster necklace with glass leaf and black heart charm – one of a kind

A trio of small treasures hangs on a long, antiqued-bronze coloured chain: a vintage brass locket, a glass leaf charm, and a small black heart.

The locket is made of raw brass and is from the 1970's. It has aged to a rich, yellow-gold colour, though it is still quite shiny. (The glare on the front of the locket, in the photographs, is caused by light shining off the smooth brass, not a whiteness on the locket itself.) The vintage locket opens and closes easily, and inside it are two oval spaces for two images or photographs, measuring 15mm by 9.5mm. You could also add a tiny piece of fabric or ribbon, a note, or some other small thing.
The Victorians loved lockets, and used to keep all kinds of things in them. They were worn inside or outside the clothing, by both men and women, including soldiers in battle, so that they could keep their loved ones close all the time.

The little, smooth, black heart is made of acrylic, while the third charm is an amber coloured glass leaf, engraved with small veins, with a hanging loop made of old brass wire.

All three of these elements slide freely on the chain, clustered together by means of small, antiqued brass rings. The chain is a Figaro style chain, which means that it has three short links followed by one longer link. The necklace fastens with an antiqued-brass coloured lobster-claw clasp, which can be clipped into any of the longer links in the chain, making the necklace easily adjustable.

'Autumn Memories' is a one-off design, never to be repeated. It is lightweight, and easy to wear. The charms tinkle slightly as you move. It looks great on its own, or layered with other vintage-style necklaces.

This one of a kind necklace measures 56.5cm, including the lobster-claw clasp. The locket measures 20mm lengthwise, not including the little hanging loop at the top, and 15mm across. The heart charm is just 10mm across, while the small glass leaf is 22mm long, including the wire-wrapping at its top.
