"Splash!" fibre art (SeaScapes range)

What began as a straightforward seascape became more and more elaborate with the addition of glittery threads, a mixture of stitches and "foamy" knots! Oceans and seascapes are a favourite theme in a lot of my thread work.

A local gallery's exhibition "Drip, dribble and splash" was the inspiration; although the theme lent itself to painted artworks rather than stitched ones, I decided to try and express fluidity in a fibre artwork.

Main colours: Blues, white
Method: Stitching art—a variety of stitches, with couching and knots, on tapestry canvas.

Fibres: Knitting wool (with metallic thread), tapestry wool, tapestry cotton
Canvas: Tapestry canvas

Size: Framed 27.5 cm x 22.5 cm
Frame: In a simple white frame with very slim white mat board
Display: Picture hanging eye hooks and fine cord attached
