Copper Hearts earrings: green firepolished glass and vintage copper heart charms - Donated by Whiteleaf Jewellery

Green and copper is one of my favourite colour combinations. These earrings feature vintage, copper-coated, puffed heart charms.
Above each heart, decorating the ear wire, are four antiqued-copper coloured beads – two shaped like little pumpkins, two with a texture like rough coconuts – framing Czech firepolished glass beads in brilliant leaf-green.

The vintage heart charms are from the 1960's-70's. They are made of acrylic and coated with copper, giving the effect of metal but with far less weight.
Czech glass is famous worldwide for its high quality. Firepolishing is a technique whereby the beads are 'polished' by subjecting them to a very hot flame, creating a bright, shiny surface. Firepolished glass sparkles almost like crystal.

These earrings measure 45mm from top to bottom. The heart charms are 13mm from top to bottom, including the baile (hanging loop), and 12mm wide. The kidney-shaped ear wires are nickel free, so most sensitive ears should be fine wearing these earrings.

The beads have been simply slid onto the ear wires, so it is recommended that you keep the ear wires closed so that the beads do not slip off and get lost. Keeping the earrings hanging, rather than jumbled up in a jewellery box, will help to ensure that the ear wires do not get opened or bent by other jewellery pieces pushing against them.
