Honey bee and Honeycomb

This stained-glass creation is inspired by busy bees and their honeycomb structure. It's created using the Tiffany method of construction. Each piece of glass has been hand cut, smoothed and copper-foiled then soldered together using 60/40 lead tin solder. The hanging chain is a standard jewellery grade from craft stores.

Measures 18cm in width and 11.5cm in height. When hanging by the tiger-tail wire it measures 27cm in length.

Bee's wings use iridised glass which is made using metal oxides which leave a rainbow layer on the glass, similar to how oil looks on water, adding a special dimension to this piece. Antennae made from stainless steel wire. The honeycomb is created using various tones of amber and yellow and a variety of textures.
