10ply NZ merino cross wool yarn naturally dyed

Locally grown Merino Cross wool from the Duncan’s farm on the Maniototo here in Otago.
This beautiful wool from a merino/romney cross sheep is carefully spun at Wild Earth Mill in Christchurch.
I have been hand dyeing this lovely wool for a number of years. It is woollen spun and has a lovely light bouncy feel with generous yardage per 100g skein.
This yarn blooms and creates a soft but robust fabric whether you knit, crochet or weave with it. It behaves well and is strong enough for both warp and weft in weaving.

The colour is a deep mulberry red called ‘Winterberry’ dyed with cochineal and madder.
The dyebath is strong and the uptake of deep colour takes several days. The yarn is rested for a further 3 days before washing and rinsing.
100g - 180metres
Recommended knitting needles - 4.50-5mm
Weave at 6-7.5DPI
Crochet hook - 6mm
Care - gentle handwash in mild PH neutral detergent and cool water.
