Part of our Nature Collection, these naturally coloured (real) bivalve shells have a navy blue point that has been accented with a little freshwater pearl.

All of my shells are hand-picked by me (or my husband), while we're out beachcombing. Only completely empty shells are collected, and even though they were empty when picked up, the shells have been thoroughly soaked, scrubbed clean with a soft brush, sun dried for a week and finally coated with a clear acrylic coating to help strengthen the shell, enhance the natural colours and help prevent the colours from fading.

These particular shells were still attached at the natural hinge, so are a perfect matching pair. They were found in a rock pool at the base of the cliffs along the beach walk to Army Bay in December 2020. One of the shells had a natural hole (where a predator had eaten the mollusc), and a matching hole was carefully hand-drilled in the same spot on the other shell.

Earring drop: 4.2cm
Earring width: 1.3cm
Ear wires: Platinum Shepherd's hooks
Shell measurement: approximately 1.3cm wide by 1.7cm high

The colour, pattern and edge on each of the earrings may differ slightly due to the natural variations in the shells, but they are extremely similar in shape, colour and size, as seen in the photos.

All our earrings are handmade with love and care. These earrings are a unique set as no two shells will ever have the exact same colour, shape or pattern.
