"Cairn II" - A Quilted Wall Hanging.
Rock cairns can mean many things to many people; they can guide us on our travels, show where loved ones forever rest in peace, help us remember where an essential food cache is buried, or they can just be beautiful works of art.
This modern art quilt representing a rock cairn can mean all these things and more. Each "rock" is carefully machine sewn into the backing fabric (it is not appliquéd on). It is made from 100% cotton fabrics and is bordered with a matching grey cotton binding, which is machine sewn to the front and carefully hand stitched to the back. Fine quilting lines give this wall hanging a lovely tactile quality that you can't find in regular works of art. I recommend hanging this wall quilt from a lovely piece of driftwood if you have one (the stick shown is not included unless you are able to collect from me in Christchurch).
