Maoricolpus roseus (commonly known as turret shells or screw shells) are endemic to New Zealand.

All of my shells are hand-picked by me (or my husband) while we're out beachcombing, and only completely empty shells are collected. Even though they were empty when picked up, the shells have been thoroughly soaked and cleaned before being treated with a clear coat of varnish to enhance and protect the natural colors, and the earrings assembled with love.

These beautiful chocolate brown Maoricolpus roseus shells were found on Stanmore Bay beach in October 2020, and would make a wonderful gift for someone who has fond memories of Stanmore Bay beach. These earrings enable you to take the spirit of this beautiful beach with you wherever you go.

Shells: approximately 3.5cm by 1cm (height x width)
Earring drop: approximately 5.2cm (from top of ear wire to bottom of shell)
Ear wires: Antique Bronze 'ball & spiral'

The colour, pattern and edge on each of the earrings may differ slightly, due to natural variations in the shells, but I tried to find two shells as closely matched in shape, colour and size, as possible.
