Honeycomb and Bee

This stained-glass creation is inspired by busy bees and their honeycomb structure. It's created using the Tiffany method of construction. Each piece of glass has been hand cut, smoothed and copper-foiled then soldered together using 60/40 lead tin solder. The hanging chain is a standard jewellery grade from craft stores.

Measures 13cm in width and 8.5cm in height. When hanging by the chain it measures 20cm in length.

Bee's wings use iridised glass which is made using metal oxides which leave a rainbow layer on the glass, similar to how oil looks on water, adding a special dimension to this piece. The honeycomb is created using various tones of amber and yellow and a variety of textures.
