Vintage kimono meditation cushion - village

A one-off meditation cushion with vintage kimono silk and cotton. The first photo is the best indicator of the colour (burnt orange).

My meditation cushions are especially good for comfortable sitting, as the buckwheat husks can be moulded to create the slight sloping angle that is needed for the correct curvature of the spine while sitting cross-legged or kneeling posture. An over-filled cushion becomes rigid and hard and may not be comfortable for long periods of sitting.

- inner cushion with NZ-grown buckwheat-husk filling
- outer cover (100% silk and linen) with zip (cover can be removed, washed and refitted)

I first started making these cushions when I was living at a Mindfulness Centre in the Coromandel Peninsula. I made 25 new cushions and mats for the meditation hall, where they were used daily and for retreats. Since then I've made sets of cushions for meditation groups in Christchurch and Auckland, and many cushions for individuals all over the country.
