Naturally bright and vibrant double-sided New Zealand Paua (Abalone) shell pendant necklace with an adjustable cord.
The Paua shell has been mounted using a silver o'ring onto waxed cord that is adjustable. The main colours in this shell piece are yellow, deep yellow, blue, pink, and green. The natural colours of this paua shell have been slightly enhanced on both sides using inks that match the original shell colours to bring the vibrancy out of the piece when worn. Both sides of this paua shell are colourful so it is up to the wearer which side of the pendant is shown when worn.
The adjustable double neck cord has been created using waxed cord that is used in most New Zealand Maori neckties on items such as bone carvings or pounamu (Greenstone). The ends of the cord are tied using slip knots so that cord length can be adjusted to fit the wearer.
All components in this necklace are separate and have been put together by hand to complete this beautiful unique one of a kind piece.
Maximum length of cord when worn is 40 cm. Paua pendant length is 3.6 cm and 4.1 cm wide. Total maximum length of this paua necklace when worn is 43.6 cm.
